Our USA trip (21.09. – 05.10.2019)
This year we had the opportunity to go to the States and live there with an American family for two weeks. We lived near San Diego, in Encinitas and went to the “San Dieguito Academy” with our host siblings. Going to an American school was completely different, because the students there have much more choices and can focus on specific subjects and their interests. It was an experience that we will never forget. We spent the weekends with our host family and went on a trip to “Disneyland” or sailing or surfing.
We had two Los Angeles days with our teachers (Prof. Bainschab, Prof. Gajic and Prof. Rintelen) and all the other “Austrians”. On the first Wednesday we went to “Hollywood” and walked over the “Walk of Fame”, drove through “Beverly Hills” and had a longer stop at the “Santa Monica Pier”, where we were allowed to go by ourselves and do some shopping. A week later we went to the “Universal Studios” and stayed there the whole day. We did some fun rides and took the studio tour, where we saw how famous films and TV-shows are made.
To sum up, on our journey we´ve had two amazing weeks during which we met really nice people and made new friends as well. It´s a completely different kind of visit to the United States because you really live there, and you don’t feel like an annoying tourist.

USA-Sprachreise 2019
Im Laufe unserer Sprachreise besuchten wir diverse Orte in Kalifornien. Dazu gehören beispielsweise der „Santa Monica Pier“, der „Hollywood Boulevard“ und die „Universal Studios“, der wohl bekannteste Erlebnispark in der Gegend. Von den 14 Tagen, die wir in San Diego verbrachten, besuchten wir an sieben Tagen die High School unserer Gastgeschwister. Dort lernten wir nicht nur ein neues Schulsystem, sondern auch eine andere Unterrichtsatmosphäre kennen und trafen neue Leute. An den Wochenenden unternahmen wir zusammen mit unseren Gastfamilien Ausflüge und besichtigten unter anderem Attraktionen wie den Zoo oder „Coronado“ und „Seaport Village“. Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass Kaliforniens Bewohner sehr freundliche, hilfsbereite und offene Menschen sind. Darüber hinaus stellte sich heraus, dass unsere Gastfamilien uns ausschließlich aufgrund von Gastfreundlichkeit aufgenommen haben. Es war eine atemberaubende Erfahrung, das typische American life kennenzulernen, mit allem, was dazugehört.
